Itanagar, Aug. 20 -- The Indian Army's Spear Corps today flagged off a mountaineering expedition to Mt Gorichen (6,488 m), the highest scalable peak in Arunachal Pradesh, from Likabali in Lower Siang district.
Majestically rising in the Eastern Himalayas, Mt Gorichen stands as a towering symbol of endurance, resilience, and adventure.
The expedition team, comprising motivated Indian Army soldiers, will attempt the peak between August 20 and October 1, 2025.
Officials said the mission aims to test endurance, foster teamwork, and leadership, while promoting the spirit of adventure and discipline.
Through this initiative, the Army also seeks to inspire the youth of Arunachal Pradesh to embrace challenges and foster national pride.
