Srinagar, Aug. 28 -- In a solemn tribute to the valour and sacrifice of the Indian Army, a flag hoisting ceremony was held today in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir to mark Haji Pir Day, commemorating the historic capture of Haji Pir Pass during the 1965 war.

The event, organised by the Army's Baramulla based Dagger Division with support from the Flag Foundation of India, saw the Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava proudly hoist the Tricolour at Cheetah Post overlooking Baramulla town and the Jhelum River, officials said.

The capture of Haji Pir Pass remains etched in history as a symbol of courage, sacrifice and national pride.
