New Delhi, Dec. 8 -- India has welcomed the sanctions imposed by the UK government on a British Sikh businessman and a group associated with him for alleged links with the Sikh extremist group Babbar Khalsa.

In a statement, the MEA spokesperson said at the weekly briefing today, that the steps taken by the UK government will strengthen the global fight against terrorism and extremism.
