New Delhi, June 27 -- India has won the bid to host of the 2029 World Police and Fire Games(WPFG), and will become the first south Asian country to organise the games.

The host city of the 2029 edition of the games, which were initiated in 1985 will be Ahmedabad. Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed happiness on the development "It is a moment of great pride for every citizen, as Bharat has been designated as the host country for the prestigious 2029 World Police and Fire Games," he wrote in a post on X.

He added that Ahmedabad, which has been selected as the venue for the Games, stands as a testament to the city's growing stature as a premier sporting destination.
