Hyderabad, March 7 -- In a landmark move to advance clean coal technology and support India's energy transition, Coal India Limited and IIT Hyderabad have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Centre of Excellence for Clean Coal Energy & Net Zero (CLEANZ).

The initiative is backed by a Rs 98 crore grant from Coal India Limited.

Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, emphasised the vital role of coal in India's energy security and economic growth. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting research in critical minerals and clean energy.
