New Delhi, Dec. 30 -- : India is stepping up its Artificial Intelligence (AI) ambitions with an investment of over Rs 10,300 crore under the IndiaAI Mission, significantly expanding its computing capacity to 38,000 Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) over five years.
The move aims to make AI affordable, accessible, and inclusive, while positioning the country as a global leader in emerging technologies, the government said in a statement on Tuesday.
According to official data, India's tech and AI ecosystem currently employs more than six million people, with the technology sector projected to cross USD 280 billion in revenue this year. Estimates suggest that AI alone could add nearly USD 1.7 trillion to India's economy by 2035.
