Chennai, Jan. 6 -- Indian made Cosmic Dust EXperiment (DEX), flown opn POEMof PSLV-C58 XPoSat mission on 2024 New Year Day, successfully detect signals ofOrbital Debris' (Dust) impact.
ISRO today termed his as a groundbreaking hunt for Interplanetary Secrets.
The DEX success also confirmed the instrument's capability to identify and measuresuch events.
In an update, ISRO said Interplanetary Dust Particles (IDPs) are microscopic shrapnelfrom comets and asteroids that form our atmosphere's mysterious "meteor layer", andshow up as "shooting star" in night.
The Dust EXperiment (DEX) is the first Indian-made instrument to hunt for such highspeed IDPs.
