New Delhi, March 19 -- India's bioeconomy grew nearly 20 per cent to reach $195.3 billion in 2025, up from $165 billion last year, according to the annual Bioeconomy Report released on Thursday. The sector now contributes about 4.8 per cent to the country's GDP, officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology said.
Highlighting the sector's rapid expansion over the past decade, Science Minister Jitendra Singh said, "Biotechnology has become central to India's growth story, driving advances in healthcare, agriculture, climate solutions, and sustainable manufacturing."India's bioeconomy has expanded from around $10 billion in 2014 to over $195 billion in 2025, reflecting a steep growth trajectory, he added.
