Chennai, Dec. 9 -- The Aditya-L1 Solar mission satellite, launched on September 2, 2023, has joinedthe global effort--with six US satellites--in the landmark Solar Storm study.

In an update, ISRO on Tuesday said in May 2024, our planet faced the strongest solar storm in more thantwo decades, which disturbed Earth's environment severely - an event now called "Gannon's storm".

The solar storm is composed of a series of giant explosions on the Sun, known as Coronal Mass Ejections(CMEs).
