New Delhi, Sept. 5 -- India today rejected the statements made by White House Trade Advisor Peter Navarro as ''inaccurate and misleading'' and hoped that relations with US would continue to move forward based on mutual respect and shared interests.

''We have seen inaccurate and misleading statements by Mr Navarro and obviously we reject them,'' External Affairs Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said at a press conference here.

Mr Navarro has in several statements criticised India for buying oil from Russia and called India the "oil money laundromat for Kremlin."
