New Delhi, Aug. 20 -- India today rejected Nepal's claim over Lipulekh Pass, saying that any unilateral artificial enlargement of territorial claims is untenable.

Nepal's claim over Lipulekh came in the aftermath of India and China agreeing to resume border trade through Lipulekh Pass, Shipki La Pass and Nathu La Pass, during the visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to India on August 18-19.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, said in a late evening statement, "We have noted the comments of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal related to resumption of border trade between India and China through the Lipulekh Pass.
