Thiruvananthpuram, May 11 -- About 30 lakh households in India will be directly contacted by representatives from the India Post to explain about services and schemes offered by the postal department for families, Union Minister of State for Communications, Dr. Chanda Sekhar Pemmasani has said.
Stating that Department of Posts is planning to conduct the largest survey in the entire country, he said the Central Government's attempt is to transform the India Post into a global logistic entity.
"Post offices are no longer about post cards and stamps, they have also developed into payment banks, savings banks and rural livelihood missions," he said.
