Ahmedabad, Oct. 1 -- India opener Shubman Gill today said it is "very important" for India to perform well in the two-Test series against West Indies, following the team's 3-0 whitewash at home by New Zealand in their previous red-ball series.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of the first Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Gill said the team is focused on "hard, grinding cricket" rather than looking for easy options.
"We are looking to play some good, hard cricket. In recent years, most Tests in India haven't gone the full five days. But if you look at our England tour earlier this year, all five Tests went into the final day. That is the kind of cricket we want to play - patient, resilient, and competitive," he said.
