Rupinder SinghNew Delhi, Jan. 14 -- Last year, the Badminton Federation of India hosted the Indian Open Badminton, which attracted strong criticism by players for less than satisfactory playing conditions.

After a year, the only improvement was that the game was shifted from the KD Jadhav courts to the larger Indira Gandhi stadium.

But once again, on the very first day of the tournament, the major talking points were the unhealthy conditions in the warm-up courts, while the playing courts were better equipped.

This is a one-event sport, and the federation has not been able to get the courts up to international standards for the second year running.
