Shillong, Dec. 23 -- : India is keeping a close watch on the unfolding situation in Bangladesh, a defence official said on Tuesday, as Bangladesh continued to be on the boil over the increasing influences of radical Islamists and anti-India rhetoric, as also political and communal violence.

"We are in a 'wait and watch' mode on the unfolding situation in Bangladesh and our armed forces are fully prepared to deal with any eventuality," the official said.

In the morning, four Chinooks and six MI-17 helicopters flew southeast of Meghalaya, as defence officials termed these sorties as a "routine".
