Colombo, Dec. 23 -- In a powerful demonstration of its 'Neighborhood First' policy, India has pledged USD 450 million to help Sri Lanka recover from Cyclone Ditwah, a disaster that struck just as the island nation was emerging from its worst economic crisis, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Tuesday.
Speaking as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's special envoy in Colombo, Jaishankar said India fully recognises the timing of this disaster, just as Sri Lanka was recovering from its 2022 economic crisis.
