Hisor (Tajikistan), Sept. 8 -- India marked their debut appearance in the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Nations Cup with a third-place finish, defeating higher-ranked Oman 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw following extra time at the Hisor Central Stadium here today.

Udanta Singh Kumam's 80th-minute equaliser cancelled out Jameel Al Yahmadi's opener in the 55th minute, pushing the contest into extra time. Oman were reduced to 10 men in the 96th minute when defender Ali Al Busaidi was sent off, but India could not make the numerical advantage count in the additional 30 minutes.
