New Delhi, Nov. 19 -- The 'Great Game' in Afghanistan that began in 1830 and ended in 1907, seems to have come alive, this time with India as the central player.
The 'Great Game' was a rivalry between Britain and Russia over Central Asia in 19th century. It ended with the Anglo-Russian Convention in 1907. Through the years Russia and the United States were in control.
However, India's entry comes with a difference. Previous entries by Russia and the United States were military interventions. India's entry cannot be called a military intervention because India has consistently assisted in Afghanistan's development and has the sanction of Taliban government and Afghanistan people.
