Hisor (Tajikistan), Sept. 1 -- India went down 0-3 against IR Iran in their second match of the CAFA Nations Cup 2025 at the Hisor Central Stadium here today.

After a tense first half that ended goalless, Amirhossein Hosseinzadeh broke the deadlock in the 60th minute, before substitutes Ali Alipour (89') and Mehdi Taremi (90 6') struck late to hand the Asian giants a comprehensive victory.

Iran, the defending champions and ranked 20th in the FIFA Rankings, 113 places above India, imposed early pressure, forcing India goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu into crucial saves. Despite this, India's defence stabilised and successfully limited Iran's clear-cut opportunities in the opening 45 minutes.
