Luxembourg, Jan. 7 -- External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday expressed India's "concern about recent developments in Venezuela," marking New Delhi's first public response to the crisis that unfolded after a US military operation that resulted in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.

Speaking alongside Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel, Jaishankar emphasised that India's focus is on the well-being and safety of the Venezuelan people.

He called on all parties and stakeholders to pursue dialogue and seek a peaceful resolution to protect civilians.
