New Delhi, Aug. 25 -- The Government and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) today formalised a pivotal collaboration aimed at alleviating the global hunger crisis by signing a Letter of Intent (LoI).

Under this initiative, the Government's Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD), will facilitate the supply of fortified rice to the WFP. This strategic move seeks to address the food and nutritional needs of vulnerable populations affected by crises across the world, said a statement from the Consumer Affairs Ministry.

The partnership signals the strength of global cooperation, with India leveraging its status as an agricultural surplus nation to provide life-saving assistance to those grappling with food insecurity.
