Male/New Delhi, July 25 -- India and the Maldives today held discussions on initiation of a landmark Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries, Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu announced. In his opening remarks after restricted talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said it was a ''significant step'' towards strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries. Prime Minister Modi is currently on a two-day State visit to the Maldives. Mr Muizzu said he and Prime Minister Modi held ''extensive discussions.'' Four Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and three agreements were signed by the two countries. One of the agreements is for 565 million US Dollar Line of Credit (LOC).
