Shillong, Sept. 2 -- India and Thailand today kicked off the 14th edition of their joint military drill, Exercise MAITREE-XIV, with a ceremonial opening at the Joint Training Node (JTN) in Umroi, Meghalaya.

The exercise, scheduled from September 1 to 14, 2025, brings together troops from both nations to strengthen operational synergy and deepen defence cooperation.

The Indian Army is fielding 120 personnel from a battalion of the Madras Regiment, while the Royal Thai Army is represented by 53 soldiers from the 1st Infantry Battalion of the 14th Infantry Brigade.
