New Delhi, Aug. 5 -- India and the Philippines signed four key agreements aimed at enhancing their bilateral ties and formally establishing a strategic partnership.

The first was a 'declaration on the establishment of the strategic partnership', accompanied by a plan of action outlining steps for its implementation.

The second agreement included terms of reference for institutionalising defence dialogues between the armed forces of both countries.

The third agreement comprised a treaty on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters and a treaty on the transfer of sentenced persons, aimed at strengthening cooperation in legal and judicial matters.
