Mumbai, Aug. 19 -- Heavy rainfall across Maharashtra has claimed over 10 lives in the past 48 hours, with Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) bearing severe brunt after receiving 400-500 mm precipitation since Sunday.

The relentless downpour paralysed normal life in Mumbai and its suburbs, causing extensive waterlogging, road traffic disruptions, and delays in Central, Harbour, and Western Line suburban trains.

Regional fatality reports confirm three deaths in Nanded, two in Beed, one in Hingoli, one in Akola, and two in Mumbai. Two persons remain missing in Nanded's flood-hit Mukhed area, while one is unaccounted for in coastal Konkan.
