Chennai, Feb. 16 -- In a fresh incident, 25 Tamil Nadu fishermen were arrested by theSri Lankan Navy while fishing in the high seas in the Palk Strait on Monday morning.
The fishermen, in two mechanised boats had ventured into the sea last night and werefishing in their traditional waters when they were intercepted by the Sri Lankan Navypersonnel.
They were arrested on charges of fishing in the Sri Lankan territorial waters after crossingthe International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and were taken to Kankesanthurai portin the Island Nation.
Their two boats were also impounded by the Lankan Navy for further action.
The fishermen were said to be hailing from Kariakal in the union Territory of Puducherry.
