Chennai, Aug. 21 -- In what is billed as a show of strength ahead of the crucial
Assembly elections due in eight month's time, the second state political conference
of actor-politician and the Founder of he fedgling Tamila Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)
began at Parapathi on the Madurai-Thoothukudi National Highway in Madurai
district of Tamil Nadu today.
Braving the searing heat, lakhs of TVK cadres, including women, from across
the state, thronged the conference right from last night and early this morning
as the Temple town of Madurai sported a festive look with TVK flags fluttering
in every nook and corner which were also dotted with banners and portraits.
