Chennai, Oct. 21 -- In a first in its 91 year long history, the Mettur Dam, also called as Stanley Reservoir, the lifeline for farmersin Cauvery Delta districts for irrigation, attained its full level of 120 ft today for the seventh time this year following which water was released from the dam prompting the authorities to issue flood alert to those living on the banks of Cauvery river in downstream areas.
The was for the first time in the dam's history and for the first time in 68 years, the storage level has attained its full level for the seventh time in a single year.
Officials termed it as a record in the dam's more than nine-decade history.
