Chennai, July 14 -- For the first time in Tamil Nadu political history, the ruling DMK headed by Chief Minister MK Stalin today appointed a quarter of IAS officers as the government's spokespersons to disseminate key information and developments in various Departments through the media, ahead of the crucial Assembly polls due in 8-9 months time.

The quartet comprises senior IAS officers J Radhakrishnan, Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Dheeraj Kumar and P Amutha, an official release said.

This comes at a time when the assembly elections are less than 10 months away.

Earlier the Government has constituted a fake news checking unit to counter disinformation even though there exists the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).
