Chennai, Aug. 20 -- The Mettur Dam, also called as Stanley Reservoir, the lifeline for farmers in
Cauvery Delta districts for irrigation, attained its full level of 120 ft today fifth time this year following
which water was released from the dam prompting the authorities to issue flood alert to those living
in Cauvery river beds.
The was for the first time in the dam's 68 year history, the storage level has attained the full level
for the fifth time in a single year.
It reached full level twice each in June and July and for the fifth time today, thanks to discharge of
surplus waters in River Cauvery by Karnataka from its major reservoirs, the storage level filled up
fast and reached its full level.
