New Delhi, Sept. 2 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today said they had arrested two people for offering and paying a bribe of Rs 22 lakh to a Superintendent of the GST Intelligence Directorate.
A senior CBI official said the accused were identified as Ram Sevak Singh and Sachin Kumar Gupta.
"The case began when the GST Superintendent, who was conducting a probe into alleged tax evasion by several online companies, was approached by the accused. They allegedly offered him the bribe in exchange for favours in the ongoing investigation," said the official.
