Agartala, May 18 -- The land customs authority has stopped all imports from Bangladesh from Sunday across all five land customs stations (LCS), after the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce, issued a ban on imports a day ago.
DGFT banned the import of six items, including ready-made garments, processed food items (chips, snacks, and biscuits), rubber products, plastic goods, and wooden furniture from Bangladesh through Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Assam, and West Bengal.
The notification explicitly prohibits the import of all types of ready made garments from Bangladesh via any land port along the India-Bangladesh border. Also, imports of these goods will now be restricted to seaports at Nhava Sheva (Mumbai) ...
