Bhubaneswar, Feb. 19 -- The Orissa High Court has granted bail to three hardened criminals arrested for committing bank robbery while pulling up the police for violating the legal and constitutional provisions paving the way for offenders to get out of the custody on technical grounds.
The Single Bench of Justice G Satapathy also directed the State's Home Department and Director General of Police to impart adequate training to police on constitutional and legal provisions to avert the bailing out of lawbreakers. "The constitutional mandate of informing the arrestee the grounds of arrest is mandatory in all offences under all statutes including offences under IPC, 1860 (now BNSS 2023).
