Srinagar, May 9 -- Peoples Conference president and MLA Handwara Sajad Lone on Friday said the impact of cross-border shelling has been widespread across the Kupwara district.
He expressed deep concern over the incidents of shelling affecting numerous villages in district Kupwara.
In a statement, Lone said he had intended to visit the affected areas, but was advised against it by security officials.
"Wanted to visit affected areas in district Kupwara impacted by shelling. The security establishment requested me not to come in view of the prevailing situation. I can understand their concerns," he wrote on X.
He also highlighted that the impact of shelling has been widespread across the border district.
