Kolkata, April 25 -- Amid the ongoing intense heatwave across West Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday announced that the heatwave conditions affecting several parts of the state are likely to ease from Saturday.
This relief is expected to come with moderate to severe thunderstorms, which will help bring down the temperatures. According to the IMD, dry westerly to north-westerly winds will persist until Saturday.
Rain is expected to begin across almost all districts in the southern region from Sunday. A few districts may even see rainfall on Saturday. In Kolkata, an additional weather alert has been issued for thunderstorms and rain till Monday.
