Bhubaneswar, Aug. 23 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today said that a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal, off the Odisha-West Bengal coasts, around August 25.

The existing low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal and its neighbourhood continues to persist. Under its influence, Odisha is likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning between August 23 and August 27.The IMD has also issued a yellow warning for several districts of Odisha, forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms with lightning, and gusty surface winds reaching 30-40 kmph till August 27.
