Mumbai, Sept. 26 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall from September 27 onwards, with conditions expected to intensify through September 28 and 29.
Meteorological experts predict extremely heavy precipitation of 300-400 millimetres over this weekend, which may impact festive celebrations across the city.
According to IMD forecasts, Mumbai will experience peak rainfall intensity starting September 27, as a well-marked low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal strengthens into a depression and crosses the South Odisha-North Andhra Pradesh coasts around the morning of September 27.
