Bhubaneswar, Nov. 8 -- The Odisha Excise Department has seized illicit items worth Rs.1,20,03,756 from the Nuapada Assembly constituency ahead of the by-election scheduled for November 11.
Along with the contraband, officials also confiscated eight motorcycles and one four-wheeler. Following directives from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha, the district administration and the Excise Department have intensified their crackdown on illegal excise activities in the region.
Since the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, the department has seized 86 litres of beer, 42 litres of foreign liquor, 6,963 litres of country liquor, 1,512 litres of out-still liquor, 60 kilograms of ganja (cannabis), and 1,71,300 kilograms of mahua flowe...
