Pune, Nov. 12 -- Pune police, in coordination with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), demolished illegal encroachments like Warkari Bhawan and other structures linked to the notorious Andekar family in Nana Peth here on Tuesday.
The authorities razed an eight-year-old building known as Warkari Bhavan, allegedly constructed by gangster Suryakant alias Bandu Andekar and his aides in 2017.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Krushikesh Rawale confirmed that the structure was built in 2017, without any permission of dedicated departments.
The establishment was built to run various unlawful activities including gambling, extortion, and other criminal operations under the guise of social service.
