Varanasi, Sept. 5 -- A major illegal liquor smuggling attempt was foiled at Varanasi Cantt railway junction when a consignment labeled as pickle was found to contain a large quantity of illicit English liquor.
In a joint operation conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and the Excise Department, 288 bottles of "Royal Stag" brand liquor were seized.
The bottles were packed in 32 tins and hidden cleverly inside 16 parcels that were booked for Patna Junction.
