Guwahati, July 12 -- As the Assam government continued its drive to clear illegal encroachment in Goalpara district today, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that there is a larger conspiracy behind these illegal encroachments to change the demographic patterns in areas where the indigenous people are majority.
The chief minister said that there must be a study to ascertain if these illegal encroachments are encouraged by a section with vested interests for political reasons.
