Hyderabad, March 22 -- The Indian Journalists union (IJU) on Sunday expressed strong protest over the forcible sealing and takeover of the United News of India (UNI) office in the national capital.

In a statement, IJU President K. Srinivas Reddy and Secretary-General Balwinder Singh Jammu said the manner in which the UNI office on Rafi Marg was taken over on Friday evening, reportedly citing High Court orders, was "shocking".

They said the role of Delhi Police and officials of the Land and Development Office has caused serious concern among journalists across the country, terming the action an "attack on press freedom" and an affront to the media, regarded as the fourth pillar of democracy.
