Kharagpur (West Bengal), June 29 -- An Assistant Professor of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, was found hanging in her quarter on the campus of the eminent institution on Wednesday, police said.

The body of Swagata Bhattacharya, who joined as Assistant Professor of the Syama Prasad Mukhopadhyay Institute of Medical Science and Technology Hospital's anatomy department last November, was recovered by the police by breaking open the door of her quarters. She was pronounced dead in hospital.

The medical college is within the IIT campus and affiliated with the premier institute in West Bengal's West Midnapore district.
