Guwahati, Aug. 14 -- Northeast India will soon get its second Indian Institute of Management (IIM), with the new campus coming up in Guwahati, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced today.
While addressing a press conference, Sarma said "The central government has sanctioned the establishment of IIM in Assam."
"This will be the 22nd IIM in the country and the second in the northeast region after IIM Shillong.
IIM Ahmedabad will mentor the institute until it becomes self-sufficient. The central government is expected to introduce a bill for the new IIM in Parliament this month," he added.
