Srinagar, Aug. 8 -- With Independence Day approaching, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V K Birdi, today directed officers to step up security measures across the Valley. He instructed that security checkpoints be strengthened, particularly during night hours, at vulnerable locations as well as along the city's entry and exit routes.
The directions were issued during a security review meeting at the Police Control Room in Kashmir, convened to assess the overall security scenario and finalize arrangements for Independence Day celebrations and related events.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of police, central armed police force and intelligence agencies.
