Amravati, Jan. 4 -- All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday questioned the absence of official data on alleged "love jihad," asking why no such information has been presented in Parliament if the phenomenon is indeed occurring.

Owaisi was responding to remarks made by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, who on Saturday said that discussions on "love jihad" should begin within families.

Speaking at a programme in Bhopal, Bhagwat stressed the need for better communication among family members and advised women to remain vigilant, adding that a decline in family communication had led to an increase in such incidents.
