Chennai, Jan. 29 -- The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) have seized Cannabis worth
Rs 60 lakh near the India-Sri Lanka International Maritime Border Line (IMBL) on
Wednesday morning.
A defence release here said, the ICG Station at Mandapam carried out this an
Anti-Narcotics Operation.
Responding to an intelligence input, an Air Cushioned Vehicle (ACV) was deployed
to search for contrabands.
During an extensive search, the ACV spotted a few packages in the First Island near
the IMBL.
On investigation, a total of 12 packets, which were abandoned in the island, were
sighted and seized.
The packets have since been identified as cannabis, also called as ganja, and they
were weighing around 53.620 kg and was valued at Rs 60 lakhs.
