Kochi, Oct. 10 -- Dr. Toms C. Joseph, Principal Scientist at the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT), has been selected to join India's 45th Scientific Expedition to Antarctica.

The prestigious mission is organized by the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India.

Dr. Joseph's participation marks a significant achievement for ICAR-CIFT, highlighting the institute's growing role in global environmental and marine research.

During the expedition, he will conduct an advanced study on the role of microplastics as carriers of pathogens and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes in the fragile Antarctic ecosystem.
