London, Dec. 10 -- The International Bar Association's Human Rights Institute (IBAHRI) has raised serious concerns over the state of fair trial guarantees and due process in Bangladesh, calling on the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government to ensure accountability through independent and impartial legal proceedings.

The appeal comes in the wake of recent controversial verdicts, including the in absentia conviction of UK Member of Parliament Tulip Siddiq, the niece of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The case is part of a broader wave of prosecutions targeting Hasina, her relatives, and close allies following the collapse of her government in July 2024.
