Mumbai, Sept. 13 -- Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is reportedly upset over Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' alleged interference in the Urban Development Department. This comes amid growing discontent within Shinde's own party ahead of the upcoming municipal elections.

Traditionally, Class A, B, and C municipal corporations in Maharashtra are headed by IAS officers, while non-IAS officers lead Class D corporations.

However, the Chief Minister has now directed that IAS officers should also be appointed as administrative heads of Class D corporations. Shinde considers this an encroachment on the Urban Development Department, which falls under his jurisdiction.
